For the twelfth year, Greenhouse Management magazine reached out to growers all over the U.S. and Canada to see what kinds of expansions and upgrades they’re planning for their greenhouse operations.
This year, we surveyed more than 150 North American greenhouse growers in early June and found that more growers are planning to add covered production than in the past eight years. But those numbers tend to ebb and flow. Back in 2012, only 32% of respondents planned to expand production, but in 2016, that number jumped to 52%. Last year, the number was trending down again at about 40% but has rebounded with 55% reporting plans for expansion this year.
Growers are also investing in their existing greenhouse structures more than ever since we started asking about investment plans. Read on for more insights. — Kate Spirgen
